In the snap (which has since been deleted) Hennessey appears to be making the infamous ‘Sieg Heil’ gesture which was used as a greeting in Nazi Germany. However, he moved quickly to deny that is the case in a post on hisofficial Twitter page.“Yesterday evening I had a meal with my team mates and we had a group photograph,” he wrote on Sunday night.“I waved and shouted at the person taking the picture to get on with it and at the same time put my hand over my mouth to make the sound carry. The original picture is no longer on Meyer’s Instagram story3

Hennessey began the season as Palace’s first choice glovesman, though he has recently lost his place in the starting XI with boss Roy Hodgson preferring Vicente Guaita since the middle of December. The Welshman was recalled for Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie against Grimsby, however, and he played the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 victory. The London club are currently in 14th place in the Premier League.

Vinnie Jones slams lack of VAR at Swansea after controversial Manchester City turnaround in the FA Cup
Vinnie Jones believes Swansea were denied a memorable victory over Manchester City due to the lack of VAR at the Liberty Stadium. The Swans were on the verge of a giant killing when they took a shock two-goal lead against City in the FA Cup on Saturday. However, Pep Guardiolas men levelled in controversial circumstances when a soft penalty was given against Cameron Carter-Vickers, before Sergio Aguero netted an 88th-minute winner despite appearing to be in a marginally offside position.VAR had been in use during Citys third and fourth round ties at the Etihad Stadium but it was not set up for the dramatic quarter-final.Aguero broke Swansea hearts at the death2
Aguero broke Swansea hearts at the death
It’s difficult to say whether VAR would’ve overturned the foul on Raheem Sterling – Carter-Vickers appeared to get a slight touch on the ball – but it surely would have ruled out Aguero’s late diving header. And Jones, who won the FA Cup with Wimbledon in 1988, was left bemused by the lack of consistency in the competition. You cant have rules for one and rules for the other, the former midfielder told the Sports Breakfast on Monday. For me, its hard, the penalty is a hard one to call but. But I definitely think Aguero was offside for the winner. When you think back a couple of weeks ago, Harry Kanes left finger was offside when he scored that great header. Aguero was offside.Meanwhile, Arsenal legend and Sports Breakfast co-host Ray Parlour also slammed the bizarre decision to have VAR at some games but not others.

Premier League clubs to challenge Football Association over new overseas players proposal
Premier League clubs are planning to fight the Football Association over their plans to reduce the number of overseas players allowed in a 25-man squad. It was reported earlier this week that the FA have put forward a proposal to limit overseas players at 12, down from the current 17, in the wake of Brexit. The Premier League are going against the FA proposals1
The Premier League are going against the FA proposals
This would increase the homegrown quota in every squad, with more than half (13) of every 25-man selection requiring to have spent three years in an English or Welsh club’s academy between the ages of 16 and 21.The proposal is due to be discussed at Thursday’s Premier League shareholders’ meeting, and The Times say top flight clubs will challenge the FA’s plans. However, there could be a compromise agreed to ensure the FA still offer a ‘governing body endorsement (GBE)’, which would guarantee every overseas player signed after Brexit would be awarded a work permit, even if they don’t meet current requirements. It is believed a number of teams are ready to agree to a cut in the number of overseas players to keep a GBE on the table, though the report says chairmen are more likely to accept 15 overseas players in a squad rather than the proposed 12.This would require every 25-man squad to include 10 homegrown players, and is regarded as a less drastic change to the present ruling.

Chong is on the bench today but what we do we know about him?talkSPORT.com have taken an in-depth look at the talented teenager, and you can read our scout report below…

Basic details

Name:Tahith ChongDate of birth:December 4, 1999 (age 19)Height:1.85mPosition:WingerClub: Manchester United (1 app / 0 goals)National team: Netherlands Under-21s (1 app / 0 goals)

Who is Tahith Chong?

Chong is a 19-year-old forward who plays for Manchester United, having joined from Feyenoord in the summer of 2016. He immediately started representing United’s Under-18s but had his season cut short when he suffered a cruciate injury in January 2017.Chong moved to Manchester United from Feyenoord in 20163
Chong moved to Manchester United from Feyenoord in 2016
He returned to the Under-18 set-up ten months later, and made his Under-23 debut at the beginning of 2018 – scoring United’s goal in a 3-1 loss to Spurs with Jose Mourinho, the club’s former manager, watching from the stands.Playing for the Under-23s this season, Chong has so far scored seven goals in 15 appearances and created a further three, whilst also appearing in United’s UEFA Youth League campaign.Chong was one of a group of United academy players taken on the club’s pre-season tour of the US, and he featured for 94 minutes – the most minutes of any academy played included in Mourinho’s travelling squad. He earned a first call-up to the senior squad in a competitive fixture against Juventus in October 2018, when he was named on the bench.A few months later, Chong was handed his debut by interim manager Solskjaer in the 2-0 FA Cup defeat of Reading, being introduced as a second-half substitute for Juan Mata.

Style of play

A left-footed wide player, Chong started his United career as a proper throwback winger; he loved to show off his pace and trickery as he got up and down the flank, creating goals for others as well as scoring them himself. His explosive style of play makes him incredibly hard to deal with, and it is something of a shock to see a player so tall and skinny move so quickly across the ground.Chong has primarily moved out onto the right flank for United’s Under-23s and he caught the eye in that position during the senior side’s pre-season tour of the US. While he still hugs the touchline in the manner of a classic winger, Chong also looks to cut inside and put the ball on his stronger left foot. In United’s pre-season clash against Club America he popped up in the number 10 position at times, and had his best joy against the opposition defence when moving infield.Chong caught the eye during Manchester United’s pre-season3
Chong caught the eye during Manchester United’s pre-season
Aside from his exceptional talent of running with the ball, Chong’s biggest strength is undeniably his ability to deliver the ball from wide. It is his crossing – both swinging crosses from deep and hard driven deliveries across the face of goal – that often stands out when Chong takes to the field.

Weaknesses

The only real weakness evident in Chong’s game at this early stage of his development is his almost incessant use of his left foot. Even when dribbling he always prefers to keep the ball away from his weaker right foot, though he is hardly punished at youth level for that remarkable one-footedness.When he starts getting a chance in senior matches, Chong will find the game much more unforgiving, and he’ll surely need to start using both feet to play at the highest level.

Manchester United finished as close to relegated Cardiff as they did to champions Manchester City
Manchester United fans will want to forget this season as soon as possible.A trophyless campaign, which saw Jose Mourinho replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm, ended with a 2-0 home defeat to already-relegated Cardiff on Sunday.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has endured a difficult end to the seasonGetty2
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has endured a difficult end to the season
The Red Devils finished sixth on 66 points, 32 points behind champions Manchester City and the same amount in front of 18th-placed Cardiff. The gap between United and City means it is the furthest the club have been from the top since regaining their top-flight status in 1975.And the 32-point gap eclipses the 31-point margin that Liverpool had over 13th-placed United when they last won the league in 1990.Uniteds hopes of finishing in the top four were ruined with a run of just two wins from their final nine games. It has been a dire end to the season for Solskjaer, who had won 14 of his 17 games in all competitions in temporary charge before being appointed on a full-time basis in March.Manchester United’s players have failed to perform in the latter stages of the seasonGetty Images - Getty2

The Norwegian is set to be busy in the summer transfer window with Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia on their way out, while Matteo Darmian and Juan Mata are expected to follow them out the door. And after ruling out a title challenge next term, Solskjaer is targeting a top four push.He said: We have been poor. Weve more or less hit a brick wall towards the end of the season so thats very disappointing. We were in with a shout (of the top four) but the last two games, of course, weve let ourselves down performance-wise.We should have won against two relegated teams (United drew 1-1 at Huddersfield last week) but thats another reality check for everyone. This league is a tough one, no matter who you play, and its a long season and towards the end weve performed under par. The big plus is the seasons over so we put a big line over it and look forward. We know we are too far behind where we want to be, thats the 98 and 97 points thats exceptional from the two teams (City and Liverpool). We are five or six points behind third, fourth and fifth, thats realistically who we need to challenge for next year. The players have been going through a tough period, good players who towards the end of the season are fatigued mentally and physically.
