Watford 3-2 Wolves: Troy Deeney mocks ‘loser’ Raul Jimenez over FA Cup semi-final mask celebration
Troy Deeney slammed Wolves’ Raul Jimenez and mocked the ‘loser’ over his mask celebration in Watford’s dramatic FA Cup semi-final win at Wembley.Jimenez, the forward, pulled on a wrestling-style mask to celebrate his 62nd-minute goal, which put Wolves 2-0 up with less than half-an-hour remaining.Jimenez scored a superb goal to put Wolves 2-0 up, and celebrated by putting on the above mask2

Though joked about at the time, Jimenez’s decision to wear the mask was widely mocked after the end of the match, as Watford fought back to win 3-2 after extra time.Jimenez, who last week completed a permanent move to Wolves, will forever be remembered for celebrating with the mask in a match the Molineux club went on to lose, and Deeney called him a ‘loser’ when interviewed after full-time.After watching a replay of the celebration, Deeney said: “I’m glad he put that mask on – he could wear it out now as well, now he’s a loser. So, enjoy the mask – we got the victory.” Gerard Deulofeu pulled a goal back for Watford with one of the all-time great Wembley finishes, before Deeney himself sent the game to extra time by netting an injury time penalty.Deulofeu’s goal in extra-time, his second of the game, completed Watford’s stunning 3-2 comeback win.Deulofeu curled a remarkable finish into the back of the net to get a goal back, before the forward won it for Watford with his second of the match in extra time2

Deeney stressed he is a big fan of Jimenez, but argued the Portuguese star’s celebrations were premature – as shown by Wolves’ failure to hold on for the win.“He’s a top, top player,” added Deeney. “It was a great finish, but I didn’t see the mask thing. I’m quite happy I only saw it now because I probably would have lost my head if I saw that.“I think you’ve got to wear the mask and do all that stuff when you know you’re going to win the game.”
