Marcus Rashford ‘close’ to agreeing 70million deal at Manchester United to ward off Real Madrid – reports
Marcus Rashford is ‘close’ to signing a 70million deal to keep him at Manchester United, according to reports. The England striker is in advanced talks with the Red Devils over a five-year contract with the club which would see him earn Wayne Rooney’s old terms. Before leaving Old Trafford to return to Everton, Rooney was on 300,000-a-week as he captained both United and England.Marcus Rashford is closing in on a 300,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford2

And now, 21-year-old Rashford believes his form this season means he deserves to be on the same amount of money as United’s record goalscorer.According to the Daily Mirror, Rashford is set to see his current pay packet of 80,000-a-week shoot up to the astronomical wages to ward off interest from Real Madrid. His current deal runs out next season, but United have an option to extend it by 12 months until 2021.This confusion, added to the tumultuous start to the season under Jose Mourinho saw rumours of a move to the Spanish capital begin to gather pace.Wayne Rooney was on big wages at Old Trafford2

However, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken charge, Rashford has looked like a different player – scouring nine goals since the Norwegian took charge.Despite being set to earn 14m-a-year and 70m over the course of the contract until 2024, Rashford is still unlikely to be offered anywhere near the terms David De Gea will want. The Spaniard is still locked in contract negotiations with the United hierarchy, with the goalkeeper demanding more than the 350,000-a-week on the table.
