Chelsea news: Ruben Loftus-Cheek explains why Europa League glory would taste better than 2017 Premier League title
Ruben Loftus Cheek can technically call himself a Premier League title winner – but he’d rather not.The Chelsea midfielder, in fact, feels as though he’s still searching for the first major trophy of his career, despite collecting a Premier League winners’ medal in 2017.He made six appearances during Antonio Conte’s first season, which was just enough to qualify for a medal. Now, though, he’s finally having a real impact – and if Chelsea lift the Europa League, he’ll be a major part of the reason.Loftus-Cheek gives Chelsea the lead on Thursday night1

The 23-year-old academy graduate helped send Chelsea through to the final with a well-taken goal during the 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, which the Blues eventually won on penalties. It was his tenth goal of the season, his fourth in Europe – and he admits Europa League glory would be the highlight of his career so far.“I’ve won the Premier League, but it didn’t feel the same. I didn’t have a contribution to it,” he told talkSPORT. “This season, the Europa League is where I’ve had most of my game time.“So it would feel amazing to be a main player in the team – I’ve scored goals and got assists – to then lift the trophy.“I don’t know the feeling, I’ve never done it! It would be amazing.”

Maurizio Sarri believes the Englishman can become one of the best midfielders in Europe, and now that he’s finally overcome persistent back problems, Loftus-Cheek plans to develop his talents.“I feel good physically for the first time in my career,” he added.“So I can go onto the pitch without any doubts popping into my head. I can play freely.“The more I play, the better I’ll get.”
